In December 2002 Brenda and Barrie C. Stead, who also run the Hollywood Plaza Cinema took over the Futurist and refurbished the theatre and cinema, installing new projectors, DTS sound system and a new cinemascope screen, ensuring that Scarborough’s cinema goers are treated to the best cinema experience possible.

The Futurist Theatre now combines the best in theatre, cinema and conference facilities for Scarborough in particular and Yorkshire as a whole.
